I am interested in the genetics of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and have been working on several projects with the aim of identifying genes involved in disease susceptibility. I have led a project on fine mapping of the IBD2 locus on Chromosome 12, been closely involved with the Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) studies with the WTCCC and performed a yeast two hybrid screen to identify proteins that interact with NOD2. I am interested in the epigenetics of complex genetic diseases and how this might lead to the development of IBD.
