Note: There is no visitor parking at the MMC.

To get to the MMC (a distinctive blue-and-silver building) take the Porterfield Road Entrance (off Crewe Road) and walk round to the front of the building. Ring the bell for the servitor.

By car

The adjacent MRC Human Genetics Unit has a page detailing routes to the Western General hospital site.

Unfortunately there is not much parking space in the hospital grounds at peak times (8.45am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday) athough there are designated spaces for patients with disabled badges on their vehicles. Please allow extra time for your journey.

By bus

The following Lothian Region Transport (LRT) buses stop on Crewe Road.

  • 19, 29/X29, 37/47/X47 (also serves Princes St. and Waverley railway station)
  • 38 (also serves Edinburgh Royal Infirmary & King's Buildings campus)
  • 24

By Taxi

A taxi from Edinburgh airport takes between 15-20 minutes and will cost around £15 depending on the time of day / traffic conditions etc.

From Waverley and the city centre the journey should take less than ten minutes and cost around £5.
